Our 5 Favorite Brands on Social Media

Social media has become a vital means for brands to directly engage and communicate with your consumers. While a solid social strategy is fundamental, it’s not as easy as you might think. Some brands have truly mastered the art of the hashtag, but others have shown us the definition of a social media blunder. To honor the former for their hard work, we made a list of our favorite brands on social media.

#1- Wendy’s- Twitter

Who ordered the Tweet with extra sass? Wendy’s pulls no punches and breaks the normal rules on social media. Known for their willingness to engage in petty comment section debates and ability to roast competitors, Wendy’s always keeps us entertained with their spicy disposition.

#2- Fake RC Cola- Twitter

So this isn’t a real social media account, technically, but it shows the amount of power brands can leverage on social if they do it right. RC Cola has been around since before World War I, but it’s not exactly a relevant brand today, which is probably why they didn’t have a Twitter account in 2017. Some opportunistic Internet users took notice of this void and started an account for them.

They then proceeded to use the account, which everyone believed to be real, to fire off snarky comments at other brands. People seemed to like what they saw, and the account gained more than 10,000 followers in two months. All this came to a halt when the account took a shot at the Commander and Chief’s typo and the real RC Cola’s parent company asked Twitter to shut it down. However, if a fake account for an irrelevant brand can get that much attention so fast, imagine what social can do for you.

#3- Letterfolk- Instagram

Why spend time creating content when you can let your followers do it for you? Letterfolk sells simple felt letterboards that only come in a few color options. This not-so sexy business model might sound mundane, but their Instagram page would beg the differ. With more than 200 followers, their brand has exploded and they don’t even create most of their content. Instead, they repurpose photos taken by their customers to drive engagement. This crowdsourcing model is incredibly effective when done right. Customers use their own personal accounts to post about the product with hopes of getting selected for a repost, and Letterfolk just sits back and picks their favorite.

#4 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- Facebook

With more than 2 million Facebook followers, St. Jude knows how to tell a story. They do an amazing job of sharing the incredible stories of the children they serve. This is a great example of how to be authentic and let your service speak for itself on social media. They also do a great job of using one of Facebook’s unique features - fundraisers. By creating Facebook events for the different fundraisers they do, everyone can see how they can get involved locally and attendees can share the event page to further boost engagement.

#5 Taco Bell- Snapchat

The spicy salsa slinger has been a social media pioneer for quite some time now, but they really shine on Snapchat. This was best exemplified in 2016, when they created a crunchy taco filter to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The filter was a huge success, with 45 million plays, 224 million views, and 48 million users reached.
